Once the submission deadline passes, it is time to create those beautiful data sheets and curate your list of submissions. During this phase, your goal is to look for any detail that can interfere with the judging process and fix it if you can. Some of these details might include:
- Maintaining anonymity and make sure files are anonymous if requested
- Scores are complete, legible, and that all supporting files (recordings, text permissions, etc) are available
- Submission date must be within the competition’s established dates
Some of these details will be out of your hands. Email the composers to ask for new files or missing information. When a composer does not follow the rules, make sure to let them know why their submission can’t be part of the competition, include the rules if you need to, but don’t forget to be kind. Said composers might be disappointed not to be part of this opportunity.
